- Module 01 - COMPUTATIONAL THINKING2 ItemsComputational thinking describes a design approach that considers the outcome of a design process as the 'result' of a computed process. Instead of merely using digital tools to speed up a pre-set calculation, it emphasizes on relationships, complexity and the systemic to form an architectural ecology, partially unplanned. The module illustrates the aspects cybernetics, conversation and feedback, computing, and ecology. It gives an insight into the history of computational architecture and urban design.
- Module 02 - COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS3 Itemscomputational tools to create advanced three-dimensional modelling different shapes/complexity, suites to architecture students and beginners of computational design concept. This module explains basic instruments of digital descriptive, algorithmic, and parametric design. It includes practicing digital modelling tools of Grasshopper for Rhino.
- Module 03 - URBAN DESIGN AND ANALYSIS3 ItemsAn overview of parametric urban design and analysis techniques to simplify the process for beginners and intermediate level students. There will be mainly three parts, parametrized design for the city geometry, analysis methods for evaluating the design performance, and finally how to understand and optimize the design and analysis data with the help of some statistical methods.
- Module 04 - COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY4 ItemsComputational biology has describes a new field of interdisciplinary research and application for architecture and urbanism. In contrast to bio-inspired architecture and urban design, which utilizes principles in an abstract fashion, it uses mathematical models and computational simulation techniques to understand biological systems. Goal is to possibly deploy them in our field of expertise to thrive sustainability and ecology. The module illustrates aspects in historical biological urban systems, biological structural and material systems, functional systems, biodiversity and urban ecology. The lecture series 'hello biology' is part of the module.
- Module 05 - MACHINE LEARNING3 ItemsIntroduction to classical machine learning methods and their implementation in architectural decision making in various design stages, from planning to design. Since the methods presented are generic, students can freely choose where they will apply these methods on. The result will be a choice comparison in form of a (visual) report.
